Kinds of Kindness | the most BIZARRE film of 2024 | Movie Review
Переглядів 2992 години тому
Saying that the latest Yorgos Lanthimos film is weird and bizarre may be not saying much. BUT in my humble opinion, I think its his most ambiguous and abstract work he's crafted to date. The best part is that you don't have to come close to understanding any of it in order to have a blast with it. So I'm trying to make reels for instagram and tiktok now ON TOP of the usual stuff I put out on my channel. Problem is, I'm having trouble keeping the reels under 90 seconds which makes it too long for instagram.. but also seems too short for UA-cam. So every now and again, I'll just be uploading a portion of a reel on instagram and then redirecting people to UA-cam with it. Anyway, I hope the ...

So first off, I apologize for the audio/video quality on Sammy's end. It's not her fault at all. She just lives on the other side of the world in Egypt. I should've anticipated this issue and had a workaround solution place. But I ensure that next time, the quality will at least be a bit better. Either way, I hope that doesn't stop everyone from enjoying what her and I have to say on the subjec...
In A Violent Nature (2024) | Arthouse Slasher Movie Review

It’s hard not to appreciate any kind of experimental approach to the slasher genre; which is a genre that has been highly compartmentalized into a box. Idk if I’d say I’m in love with the movie.
I SAW THE TV GLOW | A Metaphorical and Narrative Explanation
Переглядів 626Місяць тому
I Saw the TV Glow has been on my mind for some time. I truly admired how thematically and metaphorically driven of a film it is. It gave so much room for thought and discussion. What came to mind more than anything when watching it were themes of escapism and nostalgia and how it relates to identity and angst. I'm sure I left so much out of this video that is begging to be discussed so please s...

Forgive IMMACULATE For It Has Sinned..
Fat Girl had the most out of pocket ending ever.
Hoping to see a few more of these during the month! Still Walking comes with a high recommendation. It’s a slow burn a modern take on Ozu’s Tokyo Story.
One title I see not many people mention is Medium Cool from Haskell Wexler. Incredible movie that uses real footage from the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Give that one some love!
I am going to that location of B&N tomorrow, so I hope you left a few things for the rest of us!
@@lostnthenoise 😬
The Virgin Suicides is definitely mid.
@@brandonrobertkersjes thank you 🙏
Same goes for all Sofia Coppola films in my opinion.
This is my first criterion sale!
@@brandonrobertkersjes welcome to the cult my fellow kinolord 🙏
@@TheMisfitPondThank you!
I love how even though we haven’t talked in a minute, you still always remember to bring up Fail Safe and I thank you for that! Way more people need to see that film! Great haul btw!
Of course dude! That was an excellent request! I honestly should’ve remembered to shout you out when I mentioned it.
LETS GO BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!!!
Cool shirt👈👉
Bottle Rocket is Wes' weakest film but it's still pretty good. Overall a great selection of films. I hope to find a Barnes and Nobles while I'm on vacation. If not, hopefully we can meet up again later this month. I really want to get Farewell My Concubine, Perfect Days, Anatomy of a Fall, I Am Cuba, and Black God White Devil.
Koreada’s Still Walking is incredible! Such a beautiful and authentic family drama.
Just ordered Secret Sunshine. Great film 👏👏👏
Great deals on the Unobstructed View site for Canadians like me who don’t have Barnes and Noble. Ordered Trainspotting as well
Amazing haul crew! I Love Blaire's Smashing Pumpkins t shirt. Great band. Amazing album. Kes is actually really hard to come by in stores. I highly recommend checking that out. Excellent film. I know how much y'all love All that Heaven Allows. Please consider checking The Magnificent Obsession.
@@jesusperez7108 thank you so much h Perry! I appreciate the recommendation! Gonna end the Magnificent Obsession to my watchlist! I miss my bff 🥺
Wish you could’ve been there Perry it was a awesome haul but I missed you
It’s that time of the year 🎉
Frends 😍❤️
A Matter of Life ans Death is awesome. Not as good as Red Shoes, but damn close. Colonel Blimp is really good also.
Todd Solondz Happiness is coming to Criterion
Our wallets may beg for mercy, but we will deny them that relief.
Waiting for that Perfect Days Criterion in July! My favorite movie of last year!
So excited to buy that beautiful film ❤️ 🌳 🍃
Me too!!
Better than Paris, Texas, or Wings of Desire??? I haven’t seen Perfect Days yet.
@@brandonrobertkersjes I wouldn’t say it’s better than Paris Texas. Haven’t seen Wings of Desire
@@brandonrobertkersjes Idk if it surpasses those masterpieces but it’s VERY close
My movies get blood everywhere too. It happens Secret Sunshine is very good. Got it on my wishlist. Wish they’d put out more from Korea Harakiri is also on my wishlist Almodovar is amazing from what I’ve seen and I haven’t seen Tie Me Up. Going to check it out immediately 😂 Actually going to blind buy it as I don’t own any of his films yet
It was so great. It is so awesome the way the film draws you into the plot with the minimalistic and subtle exposition and storytelling. Each of the three sections keep you guessing what could possibly happen next or top what has just been show. The way there was a unique lore or state of each world in the 3 sections reminded me alot of Killing of a Sacred Deer, in how there seemed to be a way that the world worked hidden in the subtext. How there was some sort of terms of exchange and trades as currency between people in TKOASD, and the supernatural elements that accompany this order. Also did any1 feel this was Yorgos at his most Lynchian? The way information is fed to you and the dreamlike/artifical feeling of films reminded me alot of Mulholland Drive at some points.
They needed a viral moment and got it.
Harmony korine is one of my favourite artists ever but this was pure crap, the idea is cool but the execution was shockingly bad
Well, you sold me! I LOVED Poor Things, thought it was brilliant, the cast perfect. Just point me to the theater.
Spoiler: This movie is about Joe having a psychotic break. Many of the characters exist only in his head. Particularly those characters that count down from 40 - are manifestations of Joe's split personality. Joe killed his own mother, and the governor - and Nina and the corrupt agents are figments of his imagination.
It was for me lanthimos version of “French dispatch”. Where it’s lanthimos world and we’re all living in jt. It’s soooo great to see a director who’s gone a “little mainstream” and all of us a little worried he was gonna go more mainstream but NOOOO kinds of kindness just takes that and ruins it in best of ways. Now even tho I love poor things…. The story is pretty straight forward (coming of age/ Frankenstein). But kinds of kindness …. OHHHHH MY GOD I LOVED THIS SO MUCH MORE. It’s a lanthimos cornucopia of his themes of control like dogtooth, sex and love like in lobster and poor things, themes of supernatural (sacred deer) . This is twilight zone lanthimos version and I was in it for long haul. Here’s the litmus test. If u hated beau is afraid … stay away
actually his real name is Yogurt Lantirnos
Yogurt Latino!!!! 😍
ya boi yogurt
In my opinion. This movie IS super pretentious, but y'know what? That's VALID! I still enjoyed it tbh. Though one thing I heavily disagree with, is when you said "The best thing we'd need to do is go extinct". Tbh I wish that this movie had scenes that represented indigenous people and how they are LITERALLY the type of people who would work in sync with mother earth. Because the one thing I feel like gets ignored are the non-destructive cultures/peoples of the world
The sound design of this film stands out majestically, unmatched by any other. The feeling of awe, dread, and terror radiare in the essence of SUNSHINE, a masterpiece unappreciated by those blinded to its beauty. I do agree the blurring imagery in the third act turns off a lot of viewers but I'm willing to gladly overlook it because of the unrelenting beauty and mesmerizing soundtracks that precede it
❤
Vore people would find this more arousing than horrific.💀💀💀💀
Sense lose get it back, then take for granted again
“I am not a fan of Harmony Korine..” “I LOVED GUMMO
@@stevent2049 I’ve seen 4 of his films and only loved one of them and thought the rest were either terrible or mid. So yea not a fan.
Very surprised you didn’t know It Happened One Night existed… It was the first film to ever win the big 5 Oscars
You are very handsome and have a very pleasing speaking voice.
Love both of these films---especially It Happened One Night. One of Frank Capra's best films apart from It's a Wonderful Life.
Two of my favorite rom-coms 🔥🔥🔥
Terrifier 2 was less disturbing than Mysterious Skin. It was well done but I don’t believe I would ever watch it again.
I love It Happened One Night, but I haven't seen Bringing Up Baby. The Lady Eve, The Magnificent Obsession, The Awful Truth, Stagecoach, and The Searchers are some classics I highly recommend checking out. Also, watch Casablanca you fraud. 😂
So glad you took a look at these! Hope you check out some more screwball stuff soon, such a charming subgenre. Preston Sturges stuff is also really great.
I watched Bringing Up Baby a few years ago and wasn't really feeling it. Rewatching it a few months ago, I found myself liking it more. I also watched It Happened One Night a few years ago and really liked it the first time. I need to rewatch it at some point.
